Larger companies can hire an agency or full-time staff member to run their Facebook and Twitter accounts, but small businesses often have to handle their own social media marketing. With so many responsibilities, business owners are often too busy, overwhelmed or undereducated about the importance of social media to spend time developing and implementing a great social media strategy. As a consultant, you can help them determine the best tactics, posting schedules and content for their target audience. As their follower count grows, so will your business.
If that approach doesn't interest you then head over to Google Trends and look for a trending topic. Ideally this will be something you find interesting, but that's not an absolute requirement here. Then create a piece of content on that same topic, sign up for a free WordPress account and post it there. Voila – you now have one “clip” for your writing portfolio.
I know starting a blog is a way to make extra money. I just wish it was not take so much time it is not easy. To come up with new things to write about plus getting the traffic to your site. Just like your list here no way you just set down and wrote this all at once it took a lot of research and searching your brain. Great info and thanks for taking the time to put it all together.
Furthermore you could use a course platform to create and teach online courses on any topic you choose — this is becoming super popular and is something we ourselves do (we have an online course we teach on social media marketing). Either way — most people typically need a platform to accomplish either of these and a blog is typically the easiest way to accomplish that (although that in and of itself can take months to years to really gain traction). We have a blog setup tutorial if you’re interested (just let me know and I’ll get you some good resources).
I recently started working in network marketing with a natural hair care line. It has transformed my life, by giving me my confidence back. I was losing my hair and I didn’t know what to do. I’d been to the Dr and told it wasn’t a thyroid issue, but they couldn’t tell me what WAS causing it. My good friend introduced me to these amazing products, that in a matter of months changed my life. My husband is now using the products for his “gaining face” (not receding hairline) issue. Lol.
Modern self-storage requires a climate-controlled environment, lighting, and security. Initial capital costs for land and building construction are high but can be easily financed from rental income assuming there is a steady demand for storage space in your area - making your business plan attractive to banks and other potential investors, a great legup when you're starting a new business.
I’ve found that fear often stops aspiring consultants from starting a consulting business–or any business–and on my blog, I talk about how to overcome those fears. I also talk about practical, concrete things you can do to start and run a successful consulting business, along with tools, tips, tricks, and techniques for automating your business and keeping costs to a minimum. The info I give is applicable to most other types of businesses as well.

Do you know there are companies and people out there that make some pretty good money offering their cleaning services to households and companies? They'll come in and charge you either a set fee per room or an hourly fee to clean up. They can come weekly, monthly, or whenever you think you need some extra scrubbing. What's the point? Why not have the person they hire be you?
Like the others, this particular home-based business idea for moms has its unique drawbacks. You’re responsible for your own promotion, for recruiting a team, and for making sure the product is sold as quickly as possible. Many of these companies require that you purchase and carry stock, which can be an expensive upfront cost. Be careful to fully investigate any company to make sure there are no surprises: There’s a big difference between marketing with a company (which doesn’t require you to buy and carry stock) and selling with a company (which means you have to purchase products for future sales).
Zappos, Sears, Way fair, and Amazon are just a few of the larger known business brands that started with drop shipping. Even without your products in stock, you can still feature and sell the items on your website. Drop shipping takes the shipping process off of your plate entirely. When people buy from you, they purchase it from a third-party seller who then sells your item to your customer.
While microgreens and bees are generally legal, if you want to raise living creatures larger than bees, you may find yourself with few options. You can raise hens on your roof or in your backyard but roosters and other fowl from geese to turkeys are not permitted. So, if you hope to get into the poultry business, you’ll be limited to hens, but don’t assume you can sell their eggs. Technically, you can keep chickens in New York City but only as pets. Since raising chickens for slaughter or with the intent to profit from their eggs is not necessarily pet-friendly behavior, chicken-related agribusinesses do not comply. Other farm animals, including sheep, goats, and pigs, are neither permitted as pets nor livestock. So, what is an urban farmer to do? To begin, contact the experts at Brooklyn Grange who continue to demonstrate that one can legally run an agribusiness in New York City.

Before you set up a brick-and-mortar salon, or carve out a space in your own home, get started by signing up as a professional stylist for an on-demand beauty app, so you and your tools will travel right to your clients’ homes. On top of just the skill and experience components to being a successful online coach, this side business idea is all about building a community around the help you're offering and fostering trust with members. Plus, your community members will learn from each other along the way. Creating the space for that community can be as simple as setting up a private Facebook group or choosing a community-building platform like Ning.com that has even more capabilities like using your own custom URL, having internal forums, customized designs, and more.
Valentine's day. Birthdays. Weddings. The list goes on and on—throughout the course of a year, there are dozens of occasions when people need to order flowers. What's more is that once you're up to speed with this business idea, your costs can stay relatively low if you know where to source your flowers, and typical margins are in the neighborhood of 300% (or more) on cut flowers which makes this a particularly profitable side business idea in the right geographic area. Check out this amazing interview with floral designer, Sara Tedford of Ladybird Poppy to hear about how her floral design company started out as a side business idea of doing weddings and events for her friends and family.
Hey Dasjung . . . The Nike logo was bought for (I beleive) close to 35.00 from a college student. THAT is what is being talked about. The Nike logo is BY FAR on of the most recognized logos in the world, so maybe you should take a second look at the world. Just because someone isn’t trained doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be able to make money with their talents. The hard truth is training is not necessary to practice graphic design, just preffered, where as being a doctor REQUIRES the training. For EXAMPLE, I can go out into the world and become a manager of a business if I have the knowledge WITHOUT any training in the Business Management profession. Deal with it, Just because you have training in Graphic Design doesn’t mean that you and your peers are the only ones who can create a logo. Logos are one of those things that can either be elaborate (in which someone might come to you), or simple (in which someone might come to anyone who has shown the ability to do so).
There’s a high demand for coaches and consultants in specific fields, most being in health, fitness, and online marketing. And this is where you come in. To find a good insurance agent, ask other food-business owners for recommendations. Look for an agent who has experience writing policies for food businesses and make sure all major risks are covered. General commercial liability insurance should cover everything from an employee who is burned by boiling water to a customer who gets sick from eating your food.
Work at home transferring data from one source to another. Most of these companies do not require past experience, although with few exceptions the pay may not be enough to consider it a stable income. Before you begin applying to any of the companies below (many of which sadly are almost never hiring), you might want to read the post I wrote about data entry jobs from home. It explains what your expectations should be prior to pursuing a career in this industry.

Do you love woodworking? Even without a huge workshop, you can create some of the more popular crafts and sell them. And like most things, your success in business isn’t necessarily related to how skilled you are as a woodworker. So if you can figure out which products consumers want and just create those, you could have a good business plan. Etsy.com and farmers’ markets are a great place to start selling.

I mentioned an idea above to create an online store but you could also just declutter your house and sell things you no longer use (CDs, DVDs, kitchen appliances, etc.). There is a platform that makes this really easy, it's called Decluttr. You download their app and scan the item and Declutter will tell you the price at which to sell. Check out Decluttr (or for more information, read our Decluttr review!) Listing items on eBay is of course another option, sign up by going to www.eBay.com.
The first step toward business ownership is deciding what kind of business to start. Look for an idea that suits your interests, your personal goals, and your natural abilities. This will help you stay motivated when the going gets tough and will greatly improve your odds of success. Need inspiration? Here were the most popular ideas among our New York visitors in 2017:
You could sign up through an app like Instacart, or just offer your services ad hoc. Regardless, grocery shopping is one of the chores people like the least and are often very grateful to mark it off their to-do list. You might be able to promote your business in local grocery stores or markets, you’ll just need to ask for the store’s permission. Also, if you have a school-age child you can look to advertise in the school’s newsletter or talk to other moms and dads. Facebook is a good option, especially if you’re part of any groups that are focused on working professionals. Just be sure to abide by the rules of the group or clear your post with the group administrator first.
If you’re a fitness buff and have the right combination of charisma and business sense, working as a part-time personal trainer as a side business idea can be both physically and financially rewarding. Check out these tips to a successful personal training business by the American Fitness Professionals and this interview with several fitness blog owners who are making a living online, from MonetizePros. Everybody knows that finding (and landing) your dream job can be tough—especially when you've had the same position for a while and your resume is looking a little rusty. Before jumping in and becoming an expert resume writer, you'll have to learn how to write a resume on your own, and then practice by redoing resume's for your friends and co-workers. Next, you're ready to join a resume writers' association, continue establishing your credibility and you can eventually make your way into more hands-on career coaching opportunities.
I think when looking to work from home it is important to consider any skill sets you may have that you did not previously use for your career. For example, there are plenty of childcare opportunities that you can work toward qualifying for even if your previous career was something corporate, such as marketing or finance. You may just find something you love! You also could find something you never want to do again, in which case, at least you know:)
