Many of my readers have started proofreading from their iPads, scanning legal documents for court reporters as a result of the Proofread Anywhere eCourse I recommend. You can read some of their testimonials in the comments on this post. They offer a 7-day intro course free so you can decide if that line of work is right for you before you pursue the training.

"It's hard for me to believe it was five years ago that Lucy, my then toddler, and I were pushing rolls of fabric across our living and dining room floor for our first round of wraps. Those were some crazy days with a toddler, a newborn, and a husband in school full-time as Solly Baby began, but motherhood taught me that our capacity is far greater than most of us believe. I learned to do more with 15 minutes than I could previously do with 2 hours. Not only that, there's something about raising children that has made me acutely aware of how fleeting time is. It put the fire under me to go after what I wanted. Not only for myself, but also to show them what's possible."
I have tried to sign up & complete cash for surveys in the past and then felt like I was being led down a rabitt’s hole, going from one “skip” and/or “submit” to another without ever, seemingly, actually completing the entire process. So, when I saw CashCrate recommended in ptmoney.com, I thought it was going to be more straight forward, but, alas, no, I entered the rabitt’s hole once again, coming up for air only after an entire hour spent hopping, skipping, and jumpring all over the place, netting 25 cents in earnings! Has this been anyone else’s experience and what has been done to remedy the situation? It seems like there must exist an insider’s trick or, at least, know-how that I am missing.
Among the many companies with legitimate work-from-home jobs is Appen. Appen is a technology services company working across a variety of industries to improve its products with high-quality data. That is millions and millions of potential clicks lost just because websites have not hired an SEO expert. Most webmasters know this, and some try to carry out SEO on their own. But to be honest, the kind of patience and technicalities involved with proper search engine optimization is either beyond most people or requires too much work and time. That’s where you come in.
It's simple to use: A guest finds accommodations based on their location, and once they send a request, the host has 10 minutes to respond — if they don't, the next available rental is shown. Guests are able to pay within the app, and all of the hosts are verified by Overnight. The rates are pretty cheap, too — private rooms can go for $70 to $80, and houses can go for $150.
You will need to learn how to work with all kinds of carpet fabrics, from synthetic to wool carpets. Decide whether you will take on valuable antique carpets and family heirlooms; if so, you will want to get specialized training in how to handle these carpets and the specialized ways of cleaning them. Learn how to get tough stains and odors out of carpets--such as dog and cat odors--and your services will be in great demand.
No Clear Boundaries – If you don’t have set hours it’s really easy for the border between work and home to blur. On days I work from home my kids always ask me, “Are you home today?” I have to remind them…”I’m working from home, I’m not home to hang out.” It can be awfully tempting to let myself be distracted but if I do that I’ll never get any work done.
Set up a personal workspace where you keep everything you need for your e-business. Even if you don’t have a spare room available for an office, buy a desk and create an area completely devoted to your small business. Our environment plays a big part in establishing our habits, so having a space dedicated to work will help shift your mindset into business mode.
No one likes doing taxes, and they need to be paid whether the economy is booming or tanking. This is why at-home tax preparation can be a great business for anyone with a tax background, or anyone willing to take training courses. Since there are annual changes to the tax code, you will need to refresh your training each year, and you will also need to register with the IRS as a tax preparer. This is more of a seasonal business than a year-round endeavor, but it can be a great way to earn some extra income each winter/spring. Median salary: $30,900.
According to the National Association for College Admission Counseling, only 28% of public schools employ at least one college counselor. And yet, the process of studying for entrance exams, completing college applications, and navigating the financial process is complex. If you’re organized, knowledgeable about the higher education process, and enjoy working with adolescents and their parents, consider starting a side business as an independent college application consultant to help more smart, ambitious, and qualified kids get into the schools of their dreams.
Plug "mom bloggers" into a search engine and you'll come up with thousands of SAHMs who chronicle their daily lives online. Moms share stories and tips about single parenting, adoption, home schooling and more. The most popular blogs, like the Pioneer Woman and Dooce, turned their authors into celebrities who rack up book and movie deals. Jen Singer, the New Jersey mom of two who created mommasaid.net, says her blog averages 90,000 views per month; it's not a huge moneymaker per se, but it has led to book deals, speaking engagements and endorsement offers—none of which would have happened in the pre-Internet era. "Mom bloggers are hugely influential because they represent the authentic voices of other moms," says Jennifer James, founder of mombloggersclub.com, a community that's 10,000 strong. Making a living from a blog is tough, she adds, but there are other perks. "Moms who pen really great blogs are heavily courted by brands to review their product," she says. "Some receive thousands of dollars in products each month."
Rynn Caputo, formerly a senior manager at Johnson and Johnson, was tired of the corporate grind. On the first night of her honeymoon in Tahiti, Rynn and her husband David met two chefs, each of whom owned an Italian restaurant back in the States. "The next morning, my husband woke up and said "˜This is what I want to do with my life," says Rynn. Rynn felt the same. The couple enrolled in culinary school in the southern coast of Italy for six months, quit their jobs, and traveled through 20 regions of Italy. "Our parents thought we were crazy," says Rynn. Eventually, the couple bought a 193-year-old stone farmhouse in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, and built an addition to the home that would serve as the commercial-grade creamery for a cheese-making business. In July 2011, the couple launched Caputo Brothers Creamery (named for their two sons). The company is already producing some 300-500 pounds of cheese per week, and distribute in some of the country's top cheese shops, like Murray's in New York City. "The growth has been explosive," notes Caputo.
As the baby boomer population ages, more and more senior citizens are in need of at-home care. These needs range from medically specific requirements to simple companionship or help with cooking, tidying up, or transportation to and from appointments. This is a great option for anyone with nursing experience who would like to move into working for themselves.
Diaper cakes are all the rage at baby showers, and they make an awesome gift. However, not everyone has the artistic ability or the time to pull one off. If you are crafty and love the idea of creating epic diaper cakes, this could be the business for you. Similar to cake decorating, this business can be profitable with good networking and great design ideas.
More and more individuals and companies are hiring freelance event planners to manage the design, logistics, and coordination of pulling off major events. If you love every little detail of coordinating your kid’s birthday or your dad’s retirement party, start offering your Type-A services to partiers in your community or within your personal network. You just need to pull off one great party, to start, and your event-planning business will take off with all those word-of-mouth recommendations.
Even the portrait and general-interest options, though, aren’t really for beginners. Photography businesses can be complex operations, with lots of equipment required and years of portfolio and relationship building necessary to really get steady income flowing. Still, if you’re a hobbyist already, starting a photography business as a side operation is a great way to make some extra money and possibly begin a career change.
But before you can graduate from side business idea and start earning a full-time living as a graphic designer, you'll need to build your skills—I recommend starting with reading the foundational book Graphic Design School and Steal Like an Artist, the incredible book by Austin Kleon about how to become more creative. To accelerate your education in becoming a graphic designer even quicker, check out the online courses Graphic Design Fundamentals and The Graphic Design Bootcamp. Then once you're an expert at your craft, you can further your education and move up to offering more hands-on experiences like design sprints for higher-value clients around the world.
Many of the same concepts that apply to making gift baskets or arranging flowers also apply here, but this time you’ll be putting people’s names on the things you send them. Personalization is especially hot for any sort of kids’ item, so don’t be afraid to be creative with the products you offer to personalize. Good photography, a good Website and some crafty skills will come in handy here.
•The website has no contact information. A legitimate business has a way for you to reach them. Look for an "About" page that offers information on the company or CEO, along with a phone number, address, or contact email. (Try calling the number to see if anyone answers.) A website with only a contact form and no other way to get in touch with an actual human is suspicious.

If so, you might want to consider running your own online thrift shop. Whether you focus on fashion especially, another category of product, or prefer to amass collections of interesting items from all over the internet (but especially eBay!), there’s always a strong demand for items with a story. Give your store a compelling, memorable identity, and it will be seen as much more than a simple consignment store.
However, they are often confused about how to set up networks, sync their devices, and even operate some of the equipment they own. Internet Technology support services readily answer the needs of these seniors and everyone else who may be unfamiliar with tech equipment. You could start a mobile tech support company that conveniently makes house calls.
Let’s be honest. Those little people grow out of their clothes faster than you can keep up. When it’s time to get rid of the clothes they’ve outgrown, you have a few options. Put them out in your standard yard sale, sell them to a consignment store, or post them on social media. Apps like Kidizen are specially designed for selling your kid’s gently used threads. And of course, you can use other sites like Poshmark, thredUp, Craigslist and eBay to sell children’s clothing too.
Paycheck aside, some people seek out home-based employment because they’re craving a challenge and a sense of accomplishment. If this is a big priority for you, it will also have an impact on which opportunity you should pursue. What gives you a sense of achievement? Is it the completion of specific projects and having a physical representation of your efforts? If so, you should focus on something craft-based, like opening your own Etsy shop or working for someone else with an at-home assembly job. (You’d probably be miserable as a data-entry clerk.)
After you’ve been freelancing for a few months, you should have some good samples, testimonials, and experience that will give you the leverage to start going after bigger and better-paying freelance opportunities. It’s one of the first ideas people have when they think of starting a business: making and selling crafts. That means there’s lots of competition. The good news, though, is that people just love crafts. But be careful. Don’t just sell anything and everything. Define a product line and choose a distribution channel (online, craft fairs, etc.), and stick with your plan. And, of course, be creative.
Great article, I have tried a few over the years. I had a side business cleaning offices for years. It did great, but I hated never being able to take more than 3-4 days vacation, so I eventually gave up. I tried MTurk, but if you multiplied my earnings on an hourly basis, it was a little over $6/hr. My blog is much worse, probably less than $0.25/hr.

If the company is open to telecommuting, the employee works assigned hours but performs the job from home. Child care is also an option, and many parents see the socialization of their own children and the ability to be home and raise them as a huge benefit. There are legal and zoning requirements, local restrictions on how many children can be cared for at one time, and safety requirements that need to be considered as well. Success at freelance writing, copywriting and content writing depends largely on experience and perseverance. While the work is not always steady, it has the potential to grow from a supplemental income to a main source of income.
