Believe it or not, you don’t have to be a CPA to start bookkeeping. Just sign-up for a bookkeeping course at a community college or even online, such as this course from the Accounting Coach. Once completed you can start making a start earning. The median salary is $34,000. There are some stay at home bookkeepers I've talked with making upwards of $70,000.

I have meetings with the Editorial team about content, meet with the Ads team about partnerships, and meet with the Shop team about any issues with the store. One way to make money in this field is by being an expert witness yourself. If you have an expertise that could be useful in legal cases, you can market yourself to attorneys to act as an expert witness. Another way to be active in the expert witness field is to play a sort of matchmaker, matching attorneys up with expert witnesses for their cases--either for the defense or for the prosecution. Expert witnesses for big money cases can be expected to fly anywhere to testify. There's no reason your database of witnesses can't be from all parts of the country.
Mechanical Turk operates much like TaskRabbit and GigWalk: it’s a corner online where Amazon gathers tasks to be done, people willing to do them, and people willing to pay for them. On Mechanical Turk, you get to do the oddest jobs you can imagine as an online business idea, made possible by a parallel online universe that runs on hits, visits, surveys, reviews, pins, likes, CPCs, reads, and other metrics. But don’t get too ambitious. The small sums being paid out to human Mechanical Turk users rarely add up to anything seriously substantial, even if you invest most of your spare time into it. It's a better opportunity for internationally-based people with internet access and lower costs of living than in the US. Here’s one person’s account of his former life as a Mechanical Turk talking through how he got started with  this business idea and what the experience was really like.

I’m a huge fan of blogging because I love writing and connecting with people all over the world. To give you an idea of what is possible with blogging, DollarSprout.com is part of a group of blogs that routinely brings in over $100,000 a month in revenue. While it takes time to build your blog up to that income level, you can get the initial set up done in under 30 minutes (no experience needed).

Rynn Caputo, formerly a senior manager at Johnson and Johnson, was tired of the corporate grind. On the first night of her honeymoon in Tahiti, Rynn and her husband David met two chefs, each of whom owned an Italian restaurant back in the States. "The next morning, my husband woke up and said "˜This is what I want to do with my life," says Rynn. Rynn felt the same. The couple enrolled in culinary school in the southern coast of Italy for six months, quit their jobs, and traveled through 20 regions of Italy. "Our parents thought we were crazy," says Rynn. Eventually, the couple bought a 193-year-old stone farmhouse in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, and built an addition to the home that would serve as the commercial-grade creamery for a cheese-making business. In July 2011, the couple launched Caputo Brothers Creamery (named for their two sons). The company is already producing some 300-500 pounds of cheese per week, and distribute in some of the country's top cheese shops, like Murray's in New York City. "The growth has been explosive," notes Caputo.
Quite a lot of these which can take a while to get going, mainly blogging I find takes a long while. When I was a bit younger I started dog walking services around my area, walking them through my local park. I found that to be a decently successful way for a teen to earn some money. I’ve also dabbled in content creation on sites such as Fiverr and of course I frequently sell odds and ends around my home which I don’t need. I’m trying to make something of my blog long term though of course, but freelance to earn some extra income. Great post!

This is a turnkey business opportunity and a proven business model in the ever growing billion dollar cell phone accessory industry. On average, consumers purchase five or more cell phone accessories each year. With the business you'll cater to consumers in your own protected territory. If you’re the most organized person your know, your best small business idea from home just might be a freelance virtual assistant service: You might be surprised by how many companies are increasingly outsourcing administrative tasks to remote workers. As a virtual assistant, you can choose your clients, then manage their emails, schedule meetings, book travel, and complete other essential tasks to make your clients’ lives and businesses run more smoothly—all from the comfort of your own home. To become an admin yourself, all you need is a laptop, an internet connection, and a true passion for daily planners.

This is some seriously passive income. Companies such as Carvertise will pay to put a wrap on your car, and then pay you to simply drive you regular routes with the advertisements on your car. You can get the right to say “no” to a particular ad you're uncomfortable with the content of the ad. Most companies pay you between $100-$400 a month to advertise on your car. Not too bad.
Along with children, pets are important members of the family. As such, there is a growing need for pet-related products and services, including pet sitting, doggy daycare, pet grooming, dog walking and other pet-related services. If your children are old enough, they can help you with many of the tasks involved in running a pet-related service, such as walking or feeding dogs.
Find items that you know are selling below their full value (either online or through a deal website like SlickDeals.net), discount stores (Marshalls, Ross, etc.) buy them and sell them for more on eBay or Amazon. Once you find your product niche you can set up a system. Don't read over that too quickly. You need to find a particular product or niche to really make this work. Otherwise, you're met with different shipping costs, always trying to figure out new margins, etc. Don't try to be everything to everybody. Try to be good in one particular. Maybe it's a product you're passionate about such as selling trucker hats.  🙂 Click here for more on this idea.

There are several ways to make money from your car such as taxiing people, renting your car, or advertising businesses. Run the numbers before using your car to make money, especially if you're driving more than usual because it might cost more than you earn to use your car as a money-maker. Factor in depreciation, wear and tear, and gas expenses when you decide if driving is a cost-effective way to make extra money.
Some direct selling opportunities get bad names from pyramid schemes and other sales tactics that aren’t legit. Unfortunately, some women get trapped in these shady endeavors that cast a pall on our whole industry. We talk about this—and how to make sure you’re working with a reputable direct selling company—in our article, Direct Sales Jobs & Opportunities: What Are They?
Being a food delivery driver is back in style! People all over the country are signing up to do it. Two companies are dominating the space: DoorDash and UberEats. How it works is easy: When a person places a food delivery order from a local restaurant, the restaurant notifies DoorDash or UberEats (whichever one they use) that they need a driver to pick up and deliver the food to the customer. As the driver, you get a notification that a delivery is waiting and you can choose to go pick up and deliver the food (specific instructions on where to go, etc. included). DoorDash pays a minimum of $10/hour but says drivers can earn $25/hour on average. I've read from various sources that UberEats drivers make between $10-$12/hour after accounting for expenses. I recommend looking into it yourself. Click here to read about DoorDash, or here to read up on UberEats.
Despite Instagram's growing popularity, not all brands know what they're doing on the app. If you have a background in social media and marketing and a passion for photography and Instagram, starting a consulting business that focuses on the popular photo app can be a great way to make money while helping other businesses improve their content and thrive.

Do you know there are companies and people out there that make some pretty good money offering their cleaning services to households and companies?  They'll come in and charge you either a set fee per room or an hourly fee to clean up. They can come weekly, monthly, or whenever you think you need some extra scrubbing. What's the point? Why not have the person they hire be you?

Lots of people who are moving want to hire someone to do the heavy lifting for them. You can leave the large-scale, long-distance moving to the big moving companies. Your work can be the local, moving-across-town or to the town-next-door jobs. These are the ones that people start off thinking perhaps they could do themselves, and it will be your job to convince them otherwise. Your signs around town will tempt them to let you take care of that part of the move, while they are busy taking care of those other 500 items on their list.

Millions of paper garment covers are used by dry cleaning businesses every day. These are seen by millions of customers. Consulting is such an incredible market because it can be associated with nearly anything and everything of learning value. Whether it is expertise in antiquities, crafting, photography, art, cars, tools, home improvement, beauty, makeup, handbags, accessories, fashion, hair care, wellness, post-birth support, and education, consulting is merely comprised of in-depth know-how and an ability to instruct.
Once you’ve confirmed whether you can use all or only up to 25% of your home for business purposes, you’ll need to confirm that your proposed business is in compliance, and this is where things get complicated. If you’re a freelance writer, editor, or web designer, you don’t need to worry. If you’re starting a bakery, daycare, dog boarding service, or chicken farm, you’ll need to do a bit more research. To demonstrate, consider just of few common home businesses scenarios.
Have you ever thought about writing eBooks for a living? Or as part of your online business expansion, have you considered how to write an eBook and make money? Whether you’re a writer or not, gone are the days when you had to carry a physical book around to feed your desire to read. Put technology and mobility together, and you’ll have an entire library of eBooks or digital books right in your mobile device that you can browse anytime, anywhere.
We recommend that all small businesses, including home based businesses, purchase a general liability policy. Businesses selling professional advice or services, such as consulting and accounting firms, should also consider a professional liability policy. In New York, businesses with one or more employees, including LLC members and corporate officers, are required by law to have workers compensation insurance.
Freelance writers can more easily be thought of as a “writer for hire” or someone who is contracted out to write about a particular topic. If you have some writing chops, but don’t want to deal with all the extra work that goes into running a blog, you can hire yourself out and write for newspapers, large online publications and even other bloggers.

Know someone who rents out property to others? Perhaps they could use a hand managing their property. If so, you can make a decent amount of money on this side business idea with relatively little work on your part (most of the time). It'll take some hustling and the willingness to be flexible with your schedule, as you'll be responsible for collecting rent checks, managing repairs and improvements, and simply being on call for emergencies. But, a property manager is essential for most real estate investors that have a large enough portfolio, so there's definitely merit to this business idea.
Even if your car rarely goes unused long enough to rent it out to a visiting driver, you can still potentially “rent it out” by turning your vehicle into a rolling advertisement. The site freecarmedia.com pairs car owners with advertisers who are looking for mobile billboards. Drivers can earn up to $400 per month by agreeing to have their vehicle wrapped with a vinyl decal (called a car wrap) provided by an advertiser. Generally, your program will last anywhere from 6 to 24 months, and you get paid for following your normal driving routine.

“As a stay at home mom of two toddler boys, I wanted to work after my youngest turned one, but I didn't want to have the conventional 9-5 job. I have always enjoyed helping small businesses and purchased many things for my sons and myself from small online shop and small local shops, and the idea of Mom 'n Tot Box was born. I am able to support small businesses and deliver some amazing items to customers and also have a job that I'm proud of. I can work from home, while enjoying the day to day activities with my boys.”

Websites like Survey Junkie will pay you a decent chunk of change for the low-maintenance, borderline mindless task of completing surveys. Companies want to understand consumers better, and one way they do that is by compensating survey-takers. Most surveys pay between $0.50 and $1.25, and many of them take less than 5 minutes to do. You can read our full Survey Junkie review for more info.
Gardening can be very relaxing, and potentially very lucrative. With both the increased interest in alternative therapies and the demand for locally grown and organic foods, an herb farmer can find plenty of customers, particularly if you’re in an urban area. While this does require some space for growing, herbs are fairly small and nearly any home can be slightly modified to allow for an extensive herb garden.

Do you adore babies? “A birth doula is an individual who offers one-on-one support for a woman in labor as well as her partner and family. The word “doula” comes from a Greek word meaning “woman’s servant.” Birth doulas provide continuous, uninterrupted care for the laboring woman and her partner, helping them participate fully in their experience by offering physical and emotional support and information about the birth process and their available options”.

Melissa Dowler and her husband Tom run Long Haul Films, a production company that makes documentaries and bespoke films for weddings, events and corporate clients. The couple's workload is split between shoot days when they're on location and editing and administration days when they're handling post-production or working on marketing. So why stay at home? "Every saved penny counts and we made the decision to create a great at-home working environment so we weren't spending our money on office or co-working space," Melissa Dowler says. "We're lucky to live in a spacious loft that is ideal for what we do." Dowler explains that the loft is a former photographer's studio so there's plenty of space and light to conduct shoots right on site when needed. "Many people warned us that we'd struggle as a husband and wife team working from home, but we each feel we have our own space and we love that we're able to collaborate closely on projects and also take breaks together for lunch or the gym," she says.

If you are crafty and love the idea of creating epic diaper cakes, this could be the business for you. Similar to cake decorating, this business can be profitable with good networking and great design ideas.

If you’re a techie, you can cash in on this need by offering lessons and tutorials within your neighborhood or across cyberspace through portals like YouTube or Udemy as a side business idea. You can even set up your own tutorial site with an interface for online payments.

Hey!, I’m just putting some feelers out there to see if there’s anyone interested in making a pretty substantial amount of cash in a short amount of time. Only thing this requires is that you have an active bank account or credit card in the US. No cash is required up front to start. Which means your account can be on a zero balance and that’s completely fine. There are different money deals that suit just what you want, contact 44royaltom@gmail.com

There are actually more deals out there like this than you'd believe, thanks to the fact that sellers list used textbooks for low prices on Amazon all the time, not realizing they could trade that book into Amazon for more money. For example, you might see a Biology 101 textbook that has a used price of $45 and an Amazon trade-in price of $70 – meaning you could buy it and trade it right back in for about a $25 profit.
What kind of skills do you have that you could leverage into sales? Think about products you could create yourself, preferably at low cost. The longer it takes to make them by hand, generally the more you can charge for them. A few ideas include sewing toys or clothes, baking and decorating fancy cakes, paintings or other artwork, or wedding favours.

You can use Craiglist or Facebook to advertise your cleaning services; search engine marketing is also a good place to start. Also take a look at your social networks – the carpool lane or your kid’s soccer sideline might be a great place to float the idea of a cleaning service to busy moms and dads who are already harried with multiple responsibilities.
The hardest part in making extra money is always the FIRST STEP in how you can earn extra cash. These tips will serve as a spark for those who are really confused where and when they should start with this financial journey. Making money is not all about intelligence, it is all about making your intellect work for you to have money. It is the wit-the “street-smart” style of approaching things.
In most states in the U.S., a notary public is a state officer who is authorized to witness and attest to the legalities of certain documents by signature and stamping a seal. Most states require that you pass an exam and a background check. It costs very little to become a notary and your income from notary work is negligible. A justice of the peace typically performs wedding ceremonies. States have varying rules and procedures for becoming a JP and performing services. Becoming a JP and/or notary public does not cost much money. And it is not a big moneymaking venture! Many states set the fees you can charge for JP services. JPs can add additional fees, and often do, including travel and hourly rates for additional meetings such as rehearsals, other prep time and any special requests.
To avoid any confusion, I want to make it clear first that virtual assistant work is not always non-phone, but it can be. Virtual assistants tend to do a little bit of everything, just depending on their skills/expertise. So if you are good at various non-phone tasks (social media marketing/moderation, writing, graphic design, research etc.), then you may be able to do work for some of the companies below putting those non-phone skills to work.
